The Human Connectome Project - Using cutting-edge brain imaging technology to map the circuitry of the healthy adult human brain to understand neural connectivity and for insight on how brain connections underlie brain function. These are color-coded images of the brain’s “white matter fiber architecture”.
Bruce Munro covered fields with 6,000 glass balls attached to acrylic stems, all strung together with fiber optic cables, in order to create this ethereal installation. It was first displayed in London in 2003, and has moved around several times since. For 2013, Munro hopes to take the installation back to Uluru, Australia, where he was inspired to create this piece.
